Abstract
Marcus Rashford, a footballer for Manchester United, has partnered with food distribution charity FareShare to help children who are reliant on free school meals avoid holiday hunger.

There are over 32,000 schools in the UK that closed on Friday (20 March 2020) leaving thousands of children without free school meals.

Rashford announced on Twitter: "Many of the children attending these schools rely on free meals, so I've spent the last few days talking to organisations to understand how this deficit is going to be filled.

"I wanted to understand the scale of the problem and how we can reach vulnerable children, It's not just schools. It's community centres, breakfast clubs, etc that provide the only meal kids get each day. No child should have to worry where their next meal is coming from."

Rashford partnered with FareShare to help redistribute food to those who need it the most. The food redistribution charity donates food to 11,000 organisations a week, helping to feed almost one million people.

According to Meals & More around 4.1 million children in the UK experience poverty and food insecurity. This number could be set to rise with some children not having access to free school meals.

A £10 donation to FareShare can help 40 children receive a meal. If you would like to donate, visit: https://fareshare.org.uk/help-us/
