Pidy launches ‘revamped’ Student Catering Challenge
Abstract
Pidy is introducing a new take on the Student Catering Challenge to give students the opportunity to explore more products from the Pidy range, whilst putting their skills to the test.

Robert Whittle, managing director at Pidy UK, said: “After two fantastic years of the Pidy ‘Revamp the Vol-au-vent’ Catering Challenge, we wanted to shake things up and provide an exciting new opportunity.”

The new Student Catering Challenge invites students to ‘reinvent’ the classic afternoon tea using a selection of tartlets from the Pidy range.

Whittle, added: “Afternoon tea is a classic tradition that everyone loves, so it will be great to see the innovative ways in which they choose to reinvent it.

“Witnessing first-hand how rewarding these types of experiences are, it was an obvious decision to launch this new take on the competition and we hope the students get just as much out of it as from previous years!”

Pidy’s aim is to see how the students interpret a brief, whilst experimenting with different Pidy tartlets. The Student Catering Challenge is part of Pidy’s on-going commitment to ‘inspiring’ the next generation of chefs.

Students are required to submit a report explaining their methods and ingredients with some photos attached. A panel of judges will assess the menu concepts and the best seven entries will be chosen to attend the Grand Final Cook-Off at The Claire Clark Pastry Academy at Milton Keynes College on 24 January 2020 at 12.00pm.

Students will be required to cook live and present their dish to a panel of industry professionals including Claire Clark, a renowned pastry chef and television judge, who will return to the panel for the third year running.

The overall winner will be awarded a lunchtime meal for two at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, £200 worth of catering vouchers and they will receive a trophy.
