Twenty three pledgers have achieved a green traffic lights score on their pledge progress, showcasing their commitment to the veg mission. Despite the commendable progress by many of our pledgers, there’s a concerning trend overall for veg across the wider UK market.
According to the report, both sales and household purchases of vegetables have declined over the past year, with the average proportion of shopping baskets that are veg falling from 7.2% to 6.8%, and household purchases of veg falling by 14%.
A spokesperson said: “As the current phase of Peas Please draws to a close, our partnership has demonstrated what can be achieved by fostering a diverse community of supporters working together to champion vegetables.
“In the face of ongoing challenges with the climate, public health, and the cost of living crisis, we need continued support into the next decade and beyond to make sure that vegetables remain on the agenda.”
