Hurren, who has been attending ACE events since the 1990s and was Vice-Chair for the last two years, is already planning to make the association more appealing to the next generation.
He said: “The ACE events provide a great opportunity to meet up with colleagues and associates face to face in some fabulous venues people don’t often get access to, such as the magnificent livery halls.
“ACE prides itself on running events that appeal to different groups of people, from more formal occasions such as the Wine Dinner to fun team outings like Quiz Night. My focus will be looking at events that will appeal to our post graduates, apprentices and younger colleagues. I’ve already got some volunteers lined up to give me some ideas!”
The takeover happened during the ACE Summer Party in the gardens of Stationers’ Hall and Hurren will be supported by newly-appointed Vice-Chair, Gaye Bullard of Sodexo.
Bullard has been a committee member for five years, and is looking forward to her new role.
She said: “I’m very much looking forward to working with Paul, who I think will add another dimension of creativity to ACE. Our joint aim for the next 2 years will be to re-engage with the younger catering professionals.”
