PACE celebrates ‘leading lights in education’ at annual awards

The Professional Association for Catering Education (PACE) hosted its 2018 Awards and Professional Development Forum last week (22 February) – celebrating “innovation, excellence and dedication in the field of hospitality and catering training and education.”

Host Phil Raynsford (director of Phil Raynsford Associates) presented the seven winners their awards alongside sponsors the Craft Guild of Chefs (represented by National Chairman Lee Maycock) and Worshipful Company of Cooks (represented by Past Master Bev Puxley).

 

The night’s big winner – the Lifetime Achievement Award – went to Graham Wilkinson, principal of Kendal College (Cumbria) for “turning the college around from failing Ofsted standards to making Cumbrian history in 2010” when it become the first outstanding college in the county and also received the second highest Ofsted grade nationally during that period.

  • Excellence in Teaching Team Award: Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education
  • Gold Award in Higher Education: Middlesbrough College
  • Gold Award in Apprenticeships: University of West London
  • Royal Academy of Culinary Arts: Adopt a School Scheme Award: University College Birmingham
  • Excellence in Creating and Maintaining Industry Partnerships in Hospitality Award: L20 Hotel School
  • Supporting the Wider Community in the Supply Chain to the Hospitality Industry Award: Warburton's North East
