Abstract
Ferrero Foodservice has launched its Nutella Challenge – calling on chefs to come up with their ‘most innovative’ recipes using the chocolate hazelnut spread.

Open to chefs across the UK, entrants must submit a sweet or savoury recipe that contains less than 500 calories and no more than one heaped teaspoon of Nutella per portion, by 30 November.

Eight successful applicants will then take to the live theatre on 23 January at the Foodservice Show, where they will battle it out for the prize trip to Piedmont (Italy) – the home of Italian hazelnuts.

With just 30 minutes to create two portions of their creation, judges will pay particular attention to their creative use of Nutella and ensuring that its taste and texture is ‘instantly’ recognisable.

Zareen Deboo, foodservice channel operators manager at Ferrero UK & Ireland, explained: “We are delighted the Nutella Challenge will be joining the prestigious Salon Culinaire competitions at the Foodservice Show (Birmingham).

“Creating lower calorie dishes that are bursting with flavour is the ultimate challenge, and we are really excited to see how imaginative chefs can be.

“We want to see chefs celebrating the taste of Nutella at the heart of their dishes. This challenge is the perfect opportunity for chefs to showcase their artistic ability and push the boundaries of modern cooking”.
