After a major stop in July at Parliament Square in Westminster, the National Tour van is travelling in September to Sunderland, Leeds, Coventry, Birmingham, York and Liverpool. The campaign has been supported by celebrities including musicians Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa as well as actors Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
According to research one in five schools in England are running food banks to help feed vulnerable children. One in four teachers have brought in food for hungry pupils last term.
A No Child Left Behind spokesperson said: “We’re building support across the country for hot, healthy school dinners so that we can show the Prime Minister at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool just how big our movement is. Hundreds of schools and communities are coming together to demand an end to child hunger in our schools. Here are the towns, villages and cities where people are calling for free school meals for all.”
