Abstract
NHS Supply Chain has developed the Chef’s Academy programme, which invites hospital chefs to take part in free training, watch live demonstrations and the opportunity to network with their peers.

There are still some places to attend the next session, which will take place at Bournemouth & Poole College on 13 May 2022. The sessions are designed to ‘inspire innovation and professional development’ amongst NHS chefs and catering staff. The events were originally developed two years ago after recognising a gap in training and resources for NHS chefs.

Nick Vadis, culinary ambassador in the NHS Supply Chain: Food team, said: “I’m passionate about food and want to support the growth of catering teams in NHS trusts across the country. We’ve seen such success so far with the Chef’s Academy and attendees leaving feeling inspired, with new skills and new ideas, as well as a bank of recipes they can take straight back to their kitchen.”

NHS Supply Chain were crowned the winners of the Training and Apprenticeship Award at the recent Public Sector Catering Awards, which took place on 7 April 2022. If you are an NHS chef and interested in signing up to the Chef’s Academy event in Bournemouth, visit here.
