It will be chaired by Jo Gideon MP, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the National Food Strategy and speakers include Lindsay Roome, head of the Food Data Transparency Partnership at Defra, Julie Pierce, director of openness, data and digital at the Food Standards Agency, and Dr Stephen Mackenzie, senior specialist in greenhouse gases at WRAP.
The conference will examine proposals for a more transparent food system following the Government Food Strategy published last year, which announced the launch of the Food Data Transparency Partnership (FDTP).
Organisers say it will be an opportunity to discuss latest developments, next steps and key issues for implementing consistent reporting across the food industry on public health and nutrition, sustainability and animal welfare.
Delegates will discuss priorities for the FDTP and for stakeholders across the supply chain, including issues around metrics, standardisation and data collection, support that may be required, and how data collected can best be used to improve the food system.
Areas for discussion include:
• the Food Data Transparency Partnership
• metrics and definitions
• standardisation
• consumers
• stakeholder support
• data use moving forward
