New proposal published to simplify food labelling

Abstract
The European Commission has published a proposal on food information for consumers when they buy food, and to support this, the Food Standards Agency has issued a consultation document on these proposals.
The comments received from this consultation will help inform the Government in its negotiations on the proposal, and will be continuing to work with stakeholders throughout the process. Both general and nutritional labelling for all pre-packed and food sold loose are covered in the proposal.
