Chicken in lasange
Abstract
Data shows that 28% of Brits are opting for non-traditional cuts of meat in popular dishes such as chilli con carne, roast dinner and lasagne.

The survey was on 1,000 UK residents and asked them for their first, second and third choice of meat for different types of popular dishes. One in ten Brits admitted they would use chicken breast in a lasagne, with one in seven stating they would use mince in a roast dinner.

New survey data has shown that it’s the younger generation (Gen-Z) who are more likely to use untraditional cuts of meat, with 28% of 18-24-year-olds stating that they would use chicken breast in a chilli con carne.

Darrin Leslie, head butcher at Campbells Prime Meat, commented: “Many people avoid beef due to believing it's too expensive or old fashioned, however, there are lots of cuts of beef you can enjoy on a budget that are just as delicious when prepared correctly.

“For example, ox cheek and braising steak are amazing for making hearty stews, while minute steaks are perfect served up in a warm baguette. If you season these cuts of meat up in the correct steak marinades and cook them properly, they taste amazing and are great for weeknight dinners.”
