New allergen guide released by TiFSiP and CIEH
Abstract
The Institute of Food Safety Integrity & Protection (TiFSiP) and The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) have produced a ‘white paper’ on food allergen labelling following calls from the food industry for greater clarity and guidance.

The allergen regulations, which came into effect in December 2014, requires all food businesses to provide accurate information on allergenic ingredients in food.

However, in response to a reported overuse of ‘may contain’ labelling, TiFSiP and CIEH have produced a guide for individual businesses and organisations that have to consider products from an external supplier.

The white paper will provide advice, guidance and best practice to food businesses around how they can better signpost on their food products what food allergens might be involved.
