Abstract
National Waiters Day will take place on May 21st to celebrate all 2.5 million hospitality staff in the UK, as well as encouraging people into the hospitality industry.

Co-ordinated by The Springboard Charity, the day is designed to showcase the hard work and discipline of front of house and service staff in the hospitality industry.

It hopes to change perceptions of seeing the profession as an unskilled job with long hours to a job that offers good skills and a rewarding and sustainable career.

Anne Pierce, CEO of Springboard said: “We are delighted to be part of this fantastic National Waiters Day initiative to promote the waiting profession and hospitality industry as an great career choice and celebrate the success of waiters.

“The proceeds raised from the initiative will go towards enabling Springboard to continue to develop and run an exciting programme for schools to encourage young people to consider a career in front of house and service”.

Up and down the country, a wide range of businesses will host a range of events to celebrate and educate people to join in, from a skills session, to organising their very own Waiters Race where participants will show off their combined skills of elegance, competition, and professionalism.

This year’s London National Waiters Day Race will take place in Hyde Park at 4pm.
