Abstract
The National Railway Museum will unveil its exclusive dining carriage, The Countess of York, in an official launch at the York museum in early 2015.

The museum has restored the original 1956 carriage to reproduce the lavish style of 19th Century rail travel. With covers for 24, The Countess of York will be available for evening hire for corporate and private dining, whilst serving luxury afternoon tea during museum hours. Caterers Levy Restaurants, part of the Compass Group, will provide taster tea afternoons alongside a fine dining menu, with all ingredients sourced from local Yorkshire suppliers.

Sam Owen, head of commercial and live events for the Science Museum Group, said: “The Countess of York is an extremely exciting venture for the National Railway Museum, offering diners a unique experience of opulence and culinary excellence reminiscent of luxury European train travel. We are thrilled to be offering visitors and clients such an unforgettable destination for intimate dinners and corporate events, and look forward to welcoming guests into this splendid carriage.”

The National Railway museum in York attracts over 700,000 visitors per year with Levy able to offer catering facilities for over 350 guests at any time.
