Back British Farming Day is an opportunity to celebrate British farming values and highlight the importance of agriculture to our rural communities and wider society.
The NFU believes ‘there has never been a more important time to highlight the crucial role farmers play in feeding the nation and caring for the countryside.’
On the day, MPs will show their support for British food and farming by sporting the wheatsheaf pin badge on their social media channels and during Prime Minister’s Questions at midday.
Matt White, chair of the Public Sector Catering Alliance, said: “Thank you from us all at the Public Sector Catering Alliance and Public Sector Catering Magazine for all the British farming and growing communities do to provide such excellent produce for all us caterers to utilise to power our nation via public sector food.”
The NFU launched the Farming Community Hero Awards and over the summer MPs were encouraged to nominate a farmer from their constituency who has gone above and beyond for their local community.
A winner from each region was invited along to a Back British Farming Day event in Westminster, where they were recognised by their MP and given a trophy.
