10th Mar 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
ARAMARK, a provider of food and nutrition services to over 400 school districts nationwide, revealed that it has seen a significant growth in the number of students eating breakfast at school.
Since the company introduced its AMP Up! With breakfast program last year, ARAMARK is now serving breakfast every day to over 400,000 students nationwide. ARAMARK's breakfast program offers breakfast delivery options for classrooms, cafeterias and portable stations, with a focus on convenience. It features over 400 grab and go products to build a new breakfast program menu. According to a study conducted by Havard University and Massachusetts General Hospital, children who eat breakfast in school have fewer absences, higher math grades, and fewer incidences of problems. The ARAMARK group also supported National Breakfast Week, which ran from 3-7 March, by developing customized educational tools, posters, banners, letters to parents, and advertisements in school papers to communicate the importance of eating a well-balanced breakfast. Dennis Maple, president of ARAMARK Education, commented: "All schools, private or public, are eligible to receive federal funds for everyday breakfast served. We are dedicated to working with our social district partners to ensure breakfast is served every morni g to students…many partners have seen an increase in student attendance and classroom performance after they started offering breakfast at school."
