M&J Seafood bans sale of shark

Abstract
Starting from the end of this month, M&J Seafood will no longer be supplying shark in a pledge to support sustainable sourcing.
The move is part of the company's long-term strategy that demonstrates its commitment to sustainably sourced fish. M&J Seafood is work8ing closely with The Shark Trust and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) to raise awareness amongst the foodservice industry. Mike Berthet (pictured), group director fish and seafood at M&J, commented: "At M&J we believe that catering industry operators and suppliers have an enormous role to play in supporting the sustainable management of our fish stocks. "By refusing to sell endangered species and taking the initiative to help customers understand the issues the alternatives open to them, then suppliers like us can generate real change and help slow down diverse and reverse over-fishing."
