Milan wins Guinness World Record for the ‘largest panettone’

Milan (Italy) has been awarded the Guinness World Record for the ‘largest panettone’ – the city’s traditional Christmas cake – weighing a mega 332 kilos and 150cm high.

Prepared by master chocolatier Davide Comaschi and a team of six from the Chocolate Academy Centre, the award-winning Italian sweet bread was displayed and offered to passersby in the city’s shopping centre, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.

 

It is believed to have taken ‘hundreds’ of hours to produce and a massive 50,000g of flour!

  • 49,500g flour
  • 37,800g butter
  • 25,200g sugar
  • 25,000g dark chocolate
  • 22,500g raisins
  • 22,500g candied orange
  • 22.5l water
  • 18,000g egg yolks
  • 15,000g cream
  • 7,000g of Ruby chocolate (a naturally pink chocolate)
  • 5,100g honey
  • 2,000g white chocolate
  • 810g salt
  • 540g natural orange flavour
  • 360g natural lemon aroma
  • 225g vanilla
