Abstract
The catering industry is being offered a chance to support the FutureChef programme and enjoy an evening of good food and the company of England World Cup rugby star Matt Dawson.
On June 8th starting at 6.30pm guests will set off from Embankment Pier in London on a River Thames Culinary Cruise called the Bateaux Bash that promises "gourmet food, guest chefs and entertainment". Organisers of the event, Springboard, hope the ticket price will raise funds to support the annual FutureChef competition and provide an opportunity for previous participants to learn from established chefs and guests to see at first hand the value of FutureChef. It is a national programme that inspires 8,000 12-16 year olds each year to learn to cook, follow a career as a chef and develop a vital life skill. Special guest at the event is Matt Dawson, who carving a second career for himself as a rugby commentator on Radio Five Live following a successful professional career that earned him a World Cup winners medal with England in 2003. He is currently a Sodexo ambassador and has agreed to join guests as part of the contractor's support for this event. That support extends to Culinary Director David Mulcahy's role in managing the night with four guest chefs and four successful FutureChef alumni. The guest chefs are: Cyrus Todiwala, Chef Proprietor - Café Spice Namaste; Chris Galvin, Chef Patron - Galvin at Windows; Ben Dutson, Head Chef at Bateaux London; Graham Hornigold, Head Pastry Chef - Mandarin Oriental.
