Abstract
Medirest, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has successfully renewed its contract with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust.

This five year deal will see Medirest continue to deliver a range of catering and support services to the two Trusts, having already worked with these organisations at Chase Farm since 1997.

Medirest will provide catering and soft services to the Trusts as well as an additional four sites being added, taking the total covered to 14 including St Ann’s and Chase Farm Hospital.

An online food ordering system will be introduced and will work alongside the patient dining offer Steamplicity, which is a unique patented cooking system that steams food in a fast, healthy, nutritious way whilst saving energy, space and reducing waste.

Services will be delivered by a team of 400 Medirest colleagues, for over 3000 staff across the Royal Free London and Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust, as well as their patients and daily visitors to these 14 sites.

Steve Cenci, managing director, healthcare at Compass Group UK & Ireland said: “Over the life of the contract we’ve developed a really successful partnership with our clients at the Trusts and with the teams at the hospital sites we work in.

“We’ve got a great team in place across this contract and I’m really proud of the high levels of service and quality we deliver day in day out.

“We’re now looking to build on our track record and the introduction of the online ordering system, as well as new restaurants and retail solutions are key parts of this plan.”
