Meals & More are an independent charity that provides support to children who live with poverty and have limited access to adequate food throughout the school holiday periods. The charity provides funding to 17 delivery partners at the moment and 265 holiday clubs across the UK are supported by Meals & More.
Prior to Covid-19, an estimated 4.2 million children were living in poverty in the UK, equivalent to nine children in every classroom of 30, having risen by 600,000 since 2012.
According to the Food Foundation, 14% of parents and guardians living with children have experienced food insecurity in the last six months, impacting four million people, including 2.3 million children.
A spokesperson for Meals & More, said: “We are finding more supporters and delivery partners enabling Meals & More to reach more children across UK. We expect to support 300,00 to 350,000 meals in 2022, and another million meals until 2025.
“Meals & More remains committed to supporting as many children as possible with the funding available, particularly targeting areas of social deprivation and working in partnership with others to make a difference to each child that needs support, elevating social isolation, providing nutritious food and engaging activities.
“We will only achieve our aims with a clear vision and with the support of our partners who want to make a difference and through our dedicated network.”
