McDougalls is on the lookout for an enthusiastic team of young, innovative bakers to crown champions at the grand finale at the LACA Main Event on July 7th 2016.
Sarah Robb, channel marketing manager at Premier Foods, said: “We are passionate about helping to improve children’s cooking skills as well as their team work in a fun and creative environment.
“With this year’s theme being provenance, we hope it will educate children about local sourcing and help improve their understanding of where food comes.”
On registration, teams will receive a McDougalls toolkit which will include product samples, an application form and recipe inspiration to get them started.
As an incentive to register the first 20 schools to register by midnight on 31st December 2015 will receive an additional baking kit with equipment to help the team start practicing.
To make it to the live final in July, chefs and caterers must put together a team of up to three seven to 11 year olds and lead them to victory with one sweet and one savoury recipe which meets a ‘provenance’ theme, and submit them by Monday 30th May 2016.
The recipes must include a product from the McDougalls foodservice range along with at least one ingredient, which has been locally sourced.
Teams can register their interest now via the Premier Foodservice website or by texting ‘MCDOUGALLS’ followed by their email address to 82727 by 18th April.
The winning team will be rewarded with top prizes for their school worth £1,000, and the shortlisted recipes will be made available to download from the Premier Foodservice website in a recipe booklet.
