Love British Food unveils plans for 23rd edition of British Food Fortnight
Abstract
Love British Food, the campaigning organisation that works at grassroots and industry level to encourage sustainable supply chains, will be organising a series of events for the 23rd British Food Fortnight from 20th September until 6th October.

Every year thousands of shops, restaurants, pubs, caterers, hospitals, schools, supermarkets, independent shops and whole communities come together during the national food celebration to showcase the diverse and delicious food produced in this country. The event reaches millions every autumn and is an excellent opportunity for local communities to get together and celebrate British food.

Alexia Robinson, founder of Love British Food, commented: “This year’s British Food Fortnight will again be a joyous celebration of the wonderful food we produce in this country. It will also be an opportunity to consider how we need to do more as a society to make good food available to all so that everyone has access to nutritious food.

“We have wonderful partners this year across catering and retail so there will be promotions and activity across the country. And we are expecting to see tremendous support from schools, hospitals and universities as a result of the work we do in these sectors year round.”

Love British Food is running a Community Competition that will reward those organisations or individuals that seek to make ‘good food available for all’ in their communities. More details on this will be announced soon.

The National Harvest Festival will take place on Sunday 6th October, the last day of British Food Fortnight, at Southwark Cathedral. This service is being run in partnership with City Harvest, the food charity that redistributes 1.2 million meals a month to hungry people in need across London.

The British Food Fortnight Great British Pie Challenge invites chefs and caterers from all sectors in the UK are invited to create a pie, using British ingredients, and add to their menu during British Food Fortnight. The judges are Michelin-starred chef Phil Howard, Love British Food founder Alexia Robinson and celebrity chef Ben Bartlett.

British Food Fortnight Live will run online throughout the two week national food celebrations. There will be recipes, videos, tips for buying seasonal British food, fun activities for children and detailed advice from the experts on how communities can establish new supply chains.

Ambassadors including Raymond Blanc, Liz Earle, Phil Howard, Simon Hulstone, Alex Hollywood, Mitch Tonks and more giving their support, sharing recipes and tips on buying British food and drink. Free resources are also available at: https://www.lovebritishfood.co.uk/how-to-take-part
