Love British Food publishes social mission statement
Abstract
Love British Food, the organisation that promotes British food across the public sector, has released its social mission statement.

The Love British Food mission statement: “Love British Food is dedicated to creating awareness in all sectors of our society about the sustainable, high animal welfare, environment-enhancing food that is produced in this country. Our aim is to boost demand for it so that our farmers and producers have the confidence they need to invest in domestic, quality food production long term in order to guarantee the food security our country needs.

“In particular, we promote British supply chains to deliver robust supply of quality, nutritious food to the young in our schools, to the elderly in care homes and patients in hospitals. We promote food produced sustainably that enhances our environment, that contributes to biodiversity and the regeneration of our countryside and soils.

“We work with hospital caterers, local authorities and private sector food service providers giving leaders a platform to share their knowledge of providing quality nutritious food so that they can inspire and enable others.

“Our activities range from taking hospital caterers on farm visits; facilitating industry working groups in the education and hospital sectors; enabling knowledge sharing of best practice through online platforms; British Food Fortnight, the national food celebrations and the National Harvest Service.

“Our mission is to create a renaissance in our food culture so that everyone in society, in particular the poorest and most vulnerable, has access to nutritious food. We are a not-for-profit organisation currently reforming as a social enterprise. All funds are invested in our activities.”

The 2023 edition of British Food Fortnight is taking place from 16th September to 1st October. The two-week celebration aims to provide locally sourced and nutritious food for millions of people, both delivering value for money and supporting local businesses.
