Love British Food joins forces with No Farmers No Food
Abstract
Love British Food has partnered with No Farmers No Food (NFNF) to champion initiatives to ensure British food is the primary choice in public institutions and to push for fair supermarket pricing that reflects the ‘true value’ of farmers’ hard work.

NFNF has become the biggest voice for British farmers on social media. Love British Food says partnering makes sense as they can amplify each other’s work.

Love British Food prides itself on delivering change on the ground, such as their farm visit programme for caterers that has been ‘ground-breaking’ in putting British food on the public sector agenda.

Alexia Robinson, chief executive of Love British Food, said: "This partnership amplifies our impact across the country and aligns our ground initiatives with a strong social media presence. I’m so happy to contribute actively on the NFNF Steering Group alongside respected farmers.”

Together they will campaign to:

  • Prioritise British food in the public sector: push for a higher commitment than the current government pledge of 50%.
  • Achieve fair pricing: ensure supermarkets pay a fair price to farmers.
  • End misleading labelling: Tackle 'farm washing' that misleads consumers about the origins of supermarket products.
  • Reform country of origin labelling laws: push for legislation requiring at least 65% of a product's ingredients to be British for it to be labelled as such.
  • Expand Love British Food’s programme of farm visits: increase educational farm visits for caterers to highlight the value of buying British.
  • Secure funding to incentivise farmers to produce the types of food that will meet the nation’s changing diets: more pulses, fruit and vegetables, alongside maintaining meat and dairy supply as quality and safe protein

James Melville, founder of No Farmers, No Food, added: “We are delighted to partner with Love British Food who are a brilliant campaign organisation that champions all that is great about British food. This is a perfect fit for a hugely exciting and productive collaboration.

“British farmers are facing huge pressures on a number of different fronts. We will continue to support farmers and amplify the concerns in the farming industry and rural communities and at the same time, showcase the importance and benefits of British farm food and to campaign for improving supply chains at a fair price for farmers.”
