The aim of the Love British Food campaign is to persuade consumers to ‘buy British’ products. As an ambassador he will encourage pub groups, retailers, restaurants and caterers to make British their preferred choice.
On Twitter, Jones said: “So humbled and proud to be an ambassador. The food served across hospitals is so important to the patients care plan and ensuring that we put more British Food and the menus and utilise the seasons more is the only way forward.”
Jones is a member of the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA), which works to ensure patients are delivered a nutritious meal and kept hydrated. It holds seminars offering updates on healthy eating, obesity and malnutrition and supports all initiatives with similar aims.
Cost Sector Catering is the foodservice media partner for the British Food Fortnight, which aims to celebrate British food in schools, hospitals and carehomes.
