Abstract
The View at the Royal College of Surgeons has celebrated its first anniversary this September with an ‘excellent’ starter year, going from strength to strength with an expected revenue projection of £2m by the end of 2022.

The event and conference venue is managed by Searcys, which is one of the oldest hospitality companies in the UK. The venue has seen a ‘huge boost’ in bookings since opening, with 75% of bookings being for full-day conferences and drink receptions.

The Searcys team hosted 304 events with over 7,610 attendees, served 49,200 cups of coffee and poured 3,150 glasses of champagne. Searcys executive chef at The View Nick Seckington has introduced fully plant-based menus, from morning breakfast to canapes, which have proved popular.

Andrew Reed, chief executive of The Royal College of Surgeons of England, said: “The opening of The View was an ambitious project, and I would like to thank every member of the team for their hard work and dedication over the past year.

“We always envisaged that the venue would become a home-from-home for our members and offer warm hospitality for external events. Both these objectives have been achieved. It is very encouraging to see such a positive response from our event organisers, many of whom we have welcomed on multiple occasions.

“Working with our hospitality partner Searcys, The View has delivered some outstanding events, from conferences to parties and drinks receptions. After a tough few years for events, it is wonderful to see a boom in face-to-face meetings again and we have high hopes for the future as we head into our second year.”
