Abstract
Tilda Chef of the Year 2012 Danny Leung, head chef at Lexington Catering’s Standard Bank site in the City of London, served up the winning dish to regular customers at the client site.
Diners at the restaurant lined up to sample Persian Jewelled Rice with Moroccan-spiced Poussin, featuring Tilda Basmati Rice. Catering for 80 lunchtime workers, the dish took centre stage on the Chef's Table in the atrium at the flagship Lexington site. Served as a plated option or take-away service, the recipe proved popular. Standard Bank employees who ordered the food described the main dish as "well worth queueing for". Leung said: "It's exciting to see the positive response from my customers – they don't often see me out of the kitchen and with that extra bit of theatre provided by the display, trophy and winning dish, it's a way of sharing my Tilda Chef of the Year win with everyone." Lexington's chef director Robert Kirby said: "We're all really proud of Danny and his award, it's a great recognition of his work and the innovation we try to bring to all our sites." Lexington chief executive Mike Sunley and managing director Julia Edmonds also attended the occasion, where the engraved winner's trophy was re-presented to Leung by Tilda account manager Karen Goff.
