Current chair Matthew White finishes his two-year term in the autumn and current vice chair Jayne Jones will take over at that time, with a replacement needed to succeed her.
Matt, who was chair of TUCO for five years before stepping down in 2020, was made an MBE in the 2022 Queen’s New Year honours list.
He took over as chair of the Alliance as it transitioned from being the PSC 100 group, which was under the leadership of former Hospital Caterers Association chair Andy Jones.
And this summer he left his role as director of campus commerce at the University of Reading, where he had led the catering operation for 20 years. In that time he oversaw major improvements, including the engagement with the Menus of Change initiative, which promotes innovative ways for universities around the world to serve sustainable food.
Meanwhile Jayne, who succeeds him, is the current assistant director (facilities and production) at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, a role she moved into from Argyll & Bute Council, where she finished a 17-year stint as senior manager in charge of catering, cleaning, commercial services and food strategy.
Although there is no formal membership, the PSC Alliance operates as collaborative body for the industry on issues of common interest such as training and recruitment, procurement, sustainability, and public health.
The core of its support comes from the following industry associations: the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA), The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO), the Professional Association of Catering in Education (PACE), LACA (the School Food People), the National Association of Care Catering (NACC), and the Scottish local authority service providers organisation ASSIST FM.
It has its own media and event platforms, but also works alongside Public Sector Catering Magazine to facilitate cross sector cooperation where possible. The media and events linked to the Alliance include:
- Public Sector Catering Magazine, website and newsletter
- PSC Awards
- PSC Expo
- PSC Alliance newsletter and web pages
- PSC Alliance Forum
- PSC Most Influential – annual list of the industry leading players
Anyone interested in taking on the role of vice-chair leading to chair is asked to submit a short summary (no more than 750 words) about themselves that covers:
- Influence and contacts that you can bring to the organisation
- Short vision for the future of the industry
To be considered, candidates need to have an operations background with at least ten years’ industry experience. To put your name forward please send your Expression of Interest to pscalliance@dewberryredpoint.co.uk by 20th September 2024.
