Abstract
LACA’s 2019 School Chef of the Year winner, Stephen Cross, and his school are calling for the public sector’s help to win an activity track for their school.

Park Community School in Hampshire  on the shortlist to win a share of Persimmon Homes’ Building Futures £1 million pot supporting under-18s nationwide but it needs online votes to win the bid.

In Hampshire, only 15% of 15-year olds are physically active for at least one hour a day, seven days a week.

The school says that if they win, they will invest in a ‘colourful track’ and activities around its perimeter so students can walk, jog or run and complete the Daily Mile.

As a school they are open seven days a week 51 weeks a year until late evening.

They said: “Many local community groups and sports clubs use the school site and facilities. This will enhance the activities linked to Munch established in 2017, our free meal programme created to address children’s holiday hunger.

“Please help us by voting for our activity track today every day until 27 September You can do this by scanning the QR code attached, or by hovering over with your phone's camera which brings up a link to vote.”
