LACA launch new Technical Helpline

20th Feb 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
The Local Authority Caterers' Association has announced that a new Technical Helpline will be launched to aid members with various food enquiries.
The helpline is free of charge to users and can be accessed by calling 0844 847 2733. Alternatively members can email laca@nsf-cmi.com. This helpline will answer queries relating to food and trading law, food technology and hygiene issues. The dedicated telephone number is manned Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Through the helpline, LACA members have access to Environmental Health Officers, Trading Standards Officers and Technologists as appropriate. The advice is based on EU legislation with specific interpretation for the UK. When telephoning or emailing the service, you will be asked for your name, company and complete LACA membership number. One query per calendar month is allowed per member. Any unit not taken during the month cannot be carried over to a future month. The advice will be up to a maximum of 15 minutes duration including any research or document search. If, however, your enquiry results in advice requiring longer than the 'free time' of 15 minutes or more than one query is required per month, members will be charged for any additional advice at a preferential rate of £65 per hour. You will, of course, be notified in advance by the adviser you are consulting if any additional payment is to be incurred and the approximate value of the advice. You will then be invoiced directly. The minimum invoice value is £45 plus VAT.
