LACA creates guidance on busting apprenticeship myths
Abstract
LACA, the school food people, has released a guide that helps to bust eight myths about apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships offer several benefits for school catering teams such as future-proofing the workforce, it boosts morale, fresh talent brings fresh ideas, builds loyalty and it helps to grow your own leaders.

The eight myths LACA helps to bust include:

  • Apprentices are just for younger people
  • Apprentices are going to blow up your budget
  • Why would someone with a degree want to do a Level 2 or 3 qualification
  • Apprentices take up all your time with mentoring
  • Apprentices are only useful for entry levels tasks
  • Once the apprenticeship is over they will leave
  • Apprentices are only for full time employees
  • You need to be a ‘technology wizard’ to complete an apprenticeship

LACA has developed four industry and sector specific Apprenticeships in partnership with national training providers HIT Training and Cambrian Training. Find out more here.
