Labour Government extends holiday food voucher scheme
Abstract
The Labour Government has extended the holiday food voucher scheme until March 2025 to ensure that children who are eligible for free school meals will continue to have access to food over the holiday period, it was reported by BBC News.

The holiday food voucher scheme was supposed to end in September 2024. Swindon Borough Council currently supports around 9,400 children under the scheme. It is estimated that the council could receive £1.5m for the food vouchers.

Cabinet member for communities Jim Grant told BBC News: “We are focusing on the reduction of poverty across the borough and this additional funding will help those struggling with the cost of energy, food, water, and other essentials at a time when they need it most.”
