Abstract
Kudos, part of the Crown Group, has signed a new five-year bar, retail and events contract with the Hackney Empire worth an estimated £3 million in total turnover.
The deal will see the food and venue experts cater for events throughout the 1,300 capacity theatre and entertainment venue, manage five onsite bars; and proactively secure corporate and private events bookings via its sister company Venue Reservations.
Kudos, part of the Crown Group, will also be managing what was formerly known as the 'Empire Cafe', a standalone high-street cafe that not only serves the venue's customers but also the local community.
The cafe will be re-branded as 'Feed at the Empire Cafe' and will be the second 'Feed' venture that Kudos has embarked on after a launch at the Brighton Centre last year. 'Feed' is the Crown Group's high-street retail cafe brand.
The cafe will feature some of Kudos' trademark food options, including breakfast pastries, freshly ground coffees, sandwiches, hot deli items and afternoon teas and cakes.
The evening events menus will be developed by Frank Bordoni, Kudos' food director and former TV chef, and include dishes featuring the best of British produce such as smoked Severn & Wye trout, pressed shoulder of Southdown lamb and forced 'Yorkshire Champagne' rhubarb crumble cheesecake.
