Planning permission has just been granted for the attraction celebrating the long-running soap opera to remain open until December 2015.
The Tour opened in April 2014 and has already seen over 300,000 visitors. Kudos will continue to operate the existing Crew Kitchen and Crew Kitchen mobile H-Van seven days a week and will provide a fast paced ‘grab and go’ style offer to visitors to the infamous cobbles and the Coronation Street set.
Kudos will also invest in a temporary marquee structure and café furniture to help accommodate the increased visitor numbers as well as introducing a speciality coffee range.
Following feedback from visitors, Kudos will also be introducing new ‘bundle deals’ as well reducing the price of over 18 items within its range.
Kudos will also be celebrating local sustainable produce within its menu range from Manchester suppliers including the Barbakan Bakery, Birtwistles Butchers and the Cheese Cellar.
Coronation Street The Tour takes visitors on 45 minute behind the scenes guided tour, which brings to life off-air stories and fascinating facts, including never before accessed Sound Stage One sets, before walking out onto the famous cobbles.
A café, shop and photo opportunity complete the attraction experience. The venue can also be hired exclusively in the evening for parties, weddings and events.
Jon Pryce, managing partner of Kudos said: “We’re delighted that Continuum have confirmed they wish Kudos to continue as their catering partner at the Tour. Coronation Street is such an iconic part of British TV culture with a loyal global fan base and we’re very proud to be part of it.
“The street has even managed to play host to its first wedding ceremony earlier this year as well as the Labour Party Conference after party.”
Kevin Smith, Director of Attractions at Continuum Leading Attractions commented “We’ve had a highly successful partnership with Kudos over the past six months and we’re excited to be extending it for a further 15 months.”
