Knowsley Council announces plan to restrict junk food advertising
Abstract
Knowsley Council has become one of the first councils in the North-West of England to announce a restriction on unhealthy food advertising, it was reported by BBC News.

Almost half the children in year 6 in the local area (47%) are considered to be obese or overweight. Advertisements for products high in fat, salt and sugar will be restricted and replaced by healthier options.

HFSS products include foods such as chocolate, confectionary, cakes, biscuits, puddings, savoury snacks, fried foods and sugar sweetened drinks.

Sarah McNulty, director of public health for Knowsley, told BBC News: "We are seeing worrying trends in children's weight in the borough. It's becoming the norm almost and we don't want it to become the norm."
