20th Dec 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Sandrine Bercey, a chef at the University Hospital Coventry, has been crowned as the ISS Facility Services, Healthcare’s 2010 Chef of the Year, beating off 14 other contenders.
Bercey presented a two course menu for four people consisting of mango chicken – breast of chicken infused with spices, fresh mango and red peppers, served with homemade chapattis, riatta of onion, coriander and tomato and lemon citrus tart, served with crème fraise and raspberries. The 2010 Knorr ISS Facility Services Healthcare Chef of the Year competition was once again held at the development kitchens at Unilever's head offices in Leatherhead. Representatives from ISS Facility Services' healthcare, education and defence divisions were represented in the two 'cook off' heats, where the chefs were expected to produce a two course meal whilst being watched over by a team of judges. Joining Sandrine in the final were Clare Neal, a nutritionist for ISS Facility Services, education (Runner Up); Jahid Hossain, from ISS Facility Services, healthcare at St Bernard's Hospital, West London (3rd) and Jamie Renno, a chef from Kingston Hospital.
