King Charles launches Coronation Food Project
Abstract
King Charles has launched a national scheme called the Coronation Food Project that aims to tackle food insecurity as well as food waste, it was reported by The Times.

This new initiative will work with farmers, supermarkets and organisations to ensure excess food is redistributed to support communities. It aims to create a fairer and more sustainable future for all - where no food goes to waste and nobody is left hungry.

The Coronation Food Project was launched in July after it was given financial support from the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF). An estimated 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted every year around the world.

Sir Ian Cheshire, chair of trustees, said: “The King has been a champion of the circular economy, farming communities and increasing our food security as a nation for many decades and is keen to support a step-change in this work over the coming years.”
