Abstract
Chefs have until October 12 to enter the Junior Chef of Wales competition.

The winner will go on to represent Wales at the Junior Forum at the World Association of Chefs Societies Congress in Stavanger, Norway in 2014.

Organised every two years by the Welsh Culinary Association, the Junior Chef of Wales contest is sponsored jointly by Welsh Assembly Government to promote the food and drink industry brand 'Wales the True Taste’ and Hybu Cig Cymru/ Meat Promotion Wales.

Entries are now being invited from chefs, who must be at least 17 years old, not more than 23 on February 1, 2013 and working or studying a recognised catering course within Wales.

Apart from the all expenses trip to Norway, the winner will also receive the coveted Welsh Dragon trophy and have the prestige of being the best junior chef in Wales.

Chefs must submit their own creative menu for a three course dinner for four persons, using a selection of Wales the True Taste award winning products.

From the entry forms and menus, a panel of experienced judges will select the best entrants to compete in regional finals – Pembrokeshire College, Haverfordwest on November 6 and Deeside College, Connah’s Quay on November 20 - where they will have three hours to cook their dishes.

Three regional winners and the highest scoring runner up will then go through to a high profile final cook-off to be held at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, Rhos on Sea on Monday, February 11.

Entries must go to Welsh Culinary Association treasurer Sally Owens, 4 Bryn Hafod, Colwyn Bay, Conwy LL28 5YJ or e-mail: owens.sally@tiscali.co.uk.
