Marking the charity’s flagship fundraising day, ‘Wear It Pink’ (19 October), Jockey Club staff hosted a number of activities and challenges across its racecourses, including selling pink baked goods, wearing pink and washing cars among others.
Jockey Club Catering managing director, Nick Campbell, commented: “It’s great to support charity initiatives such as this, and we jumped at the chance to work with such a worthwhile cause.
“It was a great pleasure to help support Breast Cancer Now and raise awareness for a charity that affects so many of us.”
Lottie Barnden, Breast Cancer Now senior fundraising products manager, added: “We are so grateful for Jockey Club Catering’s wonderful support – the Wear It Pink activities have been a big success in raising much needed funds for breast cancer research.
“Right now, breast cancer is at a tipping point. Every year in the UK around 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and sadly around 11,500 women and 80 men will lose their lives to the disease. So every penny raised into our vital research and work, really counts.”
All funds raised will go directly to the charity to help achieve its aim that “by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live, and live well.”
