Jockey Club Catering brings street food to the races
Abstract
Jockey Club Catering (JCC) has teamed up with Sunday Brunch chef, Simon Rimmer and author of Street Food Revolution, Richard Johnson to bring street food to the Crabbie’s Grand National, which will be held at Aintree Racecourse this weekend.

The caterer, which is a joint venture between Jockey Club Racecourses and Compass Group UK, and Richard Johnson, founder of the British Street Food Awards, selected six street food retailers to appear at the three-day event.

Traders have been selected based on criteria ranging from how easy the product is to eat on the move, to its ability to meet the demand of delivering large volumes. The successful vendors will be situated in the Princess Royal food court throughout the festival, which is expected to welcome 150,000 guests who attend to watch the racing.

Stephen Reed, JCC general manager at Aintree Racecourse, said: “While horseracing is a sport steeped in history, we are always looking for ways to keep our food offering fresh and exciting. That’s why at this year’s Crabbie’s Grand National we wanted to provide outlets that reflect the current demand for relaxed and ready-to-eat meals.

“Our collaboration with top British chef Simon Rimmer and street food expert Richard Johnson ensures that we are providing the best street food throughout the festival, with simple dishes that are full of flavour and champion fresh British ingredients.”
