Abstract
Food and drink wholesaler JJ Foodservice has reported an increase in healthy takeaway options for its restaurant website business FOODit.
Healthy takeaway options, including grilled chicken, sushi, wraps and salads have increased by 130%.
Also American cuisine (40% increase), fish & chips (100%) and Turkish food (37%) have increased in popularity.
Michael Dudley, chief technology officer at JJ Foodservice, commented: “Takeaways are no longer an occasional treat. They are part of the ‘new normal’ and people are making healthier choices. We’ve seen an overall increase in takeaway orders of 51%.
“It will become imperative for takeaways to have healthier options as the Government moves towards banning ‘junk food’ advertising in the coming months.”
