Abstract
National wholesaler, JJ Foodservice has launched UK-made Cyprus Style Cheese, which is widely available and up to 62% cheaper than supermarket halloumi.
Halloumi is usually imported from Cyprus but Cypriot farmers have been struggling to meet the growing demand from China causing shortages and price hikes.
Sezel Ozkul, chief products officer at JJ Foodservice, said: “Our Cyprus Style cheese is made with high-quality cow's milk from a local supplier – it’s better for the UK economy, better for the environment and is less expensive than supermarket alternatives.”
The cheese can be grilled or fried and when cooking the outside becomes a crisp golden brown. JJ Foodservice has 11 UK branches and a robust supply chain so there is ‘no chance of their Cyprus Cheese running out’.
