Abstract
Jamie Oliver is set to launch two new concepts at Düsseldorf Airport, including his first ‘Coffee Van’.

Jamie’s Deli by Jamie Oliver and Jamie’s Coffee Van will open in the airport as part of a £90m contract win by SSP to open eight food and beverage outlets.

Thomas Schnalke, managing director of Düsseldorf Airport, said: “With SSP as a main F&B tenant going forward, we are strengthening our reputation as an airport where passengers can be entertained on their journey. The new outlets show once more that guests at Düsseldorf Airport are constantly offered innovative and premium gastronomy experiences.

"The fact that successful brands such as Jamie Oliver will be making their market debut with the brands Jamie’s Deli by Jamie Oliver and Jamie’s Coffee Van here at Düsseldorf Airport, underscores the international relevance which we have beyond the pure aviation business. We are also delighted that SSP will operate our 3,000 square meter premium DUS Conference Center, a modern concept, which will set a benchmark within our industry.”

Other brands due to open between 2017 and 2019 at the airport include KFC, a new concept by German TV chef Tim Mälzer called Hausmann’s, French-inspired café and patisserie Epi, and Italian family-restaurant ‘4 Cani’. The brand mix will be completed by a number of local brands showcasing the cuisine and culture of Düsseldorf.

Cornelius Everke, SSP DACH (Germany, Switzerland & Austria) & FRABEL (France, Belgium and the Netherlands) CEO said; “SSP has been operating at Düsseldorf Airport for many years, and we are delighted to be building on our relationship with the team here as the airport moves into a new era.

“Our offer has been designed to help Düsseldorf Airport achieve its ambition to be North Rhine-Westphalia’s “gateway to the world”. We are certain that this outstanding brand mix will provide a highly engaging experience for passengers at the airport.”
