The contract secures Apetito as ISS UK’s main provider of delivered-in meals across the company’s healthcare business, serving around 8.5m meals per year. Apetito is focused on reducing food waste, sourcing ethical ingredients and lowering carbon emissions as part of its net zero ambitions.
Donna Brown, managing director of ISS Facility Services Healthcare UK, said: “We are confident that we have selected the best strategic supplier to support our value proposition and enhance our patient meal offer.
“It’s an exciting time for both ISS and our customers as we focus on shared product development and innovation, sustainability, reducing food waste, social value and training. We are excited about the benefits this new working relationship will bring and look forward to seeing this rolled out across all our healthcare contracts in the coming months.”
Over the next five years, both partners will continue to build a product range to meet the evolving needs of NHS patients.
Paul Freeston, chair & chief executive of Apetito UK & North America, added: “We are very excited to be entering this new relationship with ISS. It’s a partnership that is built on shared social values and a mutual passion to deliver quality, innovation, and value back to the NHS.
"Together we can make a real difference in delivering outstanding food and nutrition to hospital patients throughout the UK whilst supporting the NHS in its objectives to reach net zero by 2040.’’
