Abstract
Facility service provider ISS is celebrating after signing a 12-year extension deal for its Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract at the Calderdale Royal Hospital (Halifax), said to be worth in excess of £102 million.

Working with its PFI partner Calderdale Albany SPC, the company will continue to provide a ‘wide range’ of soft FM services for the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, including: healthcare cleaning; patient catering; retail catering; logistics; portering; security; car parking; switchboard and help desk services; linen distribution and sewing room services.

Donna Brown, divisional director for ISS Healthcare who led the negotiations, commented: “Although the hospital opened its doors in 2001, ISS has been working with the Trust since the 1990s, so this is a real vote of confidence in the partnership that we have all worked so hard to achieve.”

Managing director Chris Ash added: “This agreement will see ISS take the PFI from conception right through to the contract term, which is a testament to everyone involved.

“We have always worked hard to maintain the highest possible standards while looking to lead the way in innovation around the patient experience.

Praising ISS for ‘delivering a high standard of service and value for money,’ Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust director of finance, Gary Boothby said: “ISS has been a partner with the Trust for over twenty years and has continued to support the organisation in achieving improved standards and increased efficiency.

"This extended agreement would not have happened had ISS not been seen as a strong, long term partner for the Trust.”
