Abstract
Two ISS Facility Services head office restaurants and one other main client site will be offering diners Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified sustainable seafood from now on.

The triple certification is a pilot for the Sustainable Fish Cities Pledge, which the contract caterer signed in 2012. As part of the pledge, ISS Food & Hospitality committed to getting all its fish-serving sites MSC certified.

MSC commercial outreach officer, Ruth Westcott, welcomed the certifications. “Sustainable seafood and traceability are such pertinent issues at the moment and, in getting MSC certification, ISS Food & Hospitality has proven that it is giving its customers assurance of both,” said Westcott. “This is great news for customers, who will be able to see the MSC ecolabel on menus, and great news for the oceans.”

The certification means that any MSC labelled fish on ISS site menus can be traced back to certified sustainable fisheries.

Paul Whiteley, procurement director at ISS Food & Hospitality, said: “We’re really pleased to get these first sites MSC certified. The ability to offer customers sustainable seafood has never been more important and we are happy to be at the forefront of this movement.

“These first three restaurants will act as a template for the rest of our sites around the country over the next two years and I look forward to further successes for our clients.”
