ISS and BITC work to future proof facilities management talent
Abstract
ISS has joined a new Business in the Community (BITC) campaign, backed by the City & Guilds Group, to help businesses break down the barriers in their recruitment processes and create quality accessible jobs for all young people.

The Future Proof campaign launched this week and aims to open up access to better first job opportunities for all young people. As part of BITC’s Talent and Skills Leadership Team, ISS has provided the strategic support to launch Future Proof.

Richard Sykes, CEO of ISS UK & Ireland, said: “At ISS, we recognise the importance of helping people, the lifeblood of the facilities management industry, to develop their skills.

“Our young people in particular benefit from the breadth of opportunities available in FM as we can provide a range of experience and mentors to help our next generation to improve their confidence and abilities.

“We’re delighted to work with BITC in the Future Proof campaign and to provide demonstrable assistance, supplemented through our partnership with the Prince’s Trust. In fact, in January 2016, we were delighted to confirm that we have helped over 7,000 young people in their progress into the work place.”

A new online platform will provide extensive guidance and regular updates on how companies can implement the framework. Part of this new platform, is a Youth Employment Assessment Tool, a free online resource to help identify what a business is doing right with youth recruitment and where there’s room for improvement.
