Isobel Gill, a mobile primary cook with Warwickshire County Caterers, won the recent West Midlands regional heat of LACA’s School Chef of the Year (SCoTY) competition.
Sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, this round of the competition was held at Stoke College on March 14th.
Isobel’s main course was Fish and Dips (salmon fishcakes served with flatbread and a mango dip with peas and leeks), followed by a dessert of Blueberry Brioche Pudding (bread pudding made with brioche and added blueberries).
Adrian Seadon, who works at John Baskeyfield VC CofE Primary School for City Catering on behalf of Stoke on Trent City Council, was highly commended by judges for his main course of Which Came First? (free range egg wrapped in golden crumbed chicken, accompanied by mixed rice and curried vegetables).
He followed up with a dessert of Tangy Toffee Apple Charlotte (tangy retro classic of zingy apple encased in baked bread with custard and zesty coulis).
The SCoTY 2013 final will take place on May 22nd at the Defence Services School, Worthy Down in Hampshire. The competition is sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional.
