More than 40 representatives from a wide variety of leading organisations in the UK coffee industry attended a steering committee meeting in central London last week, organised by the Allegra Foundation, to coordinate industry wide plans for UK Coffee Week and to explore innovative ways to maximise fundraising totals for Project Waterfall. The meeting was a great success and generated many new fundraising ideas.
Representatives from a range of organisations attended including Starbucks, Kenco Millicano, Taylors Street Baristas, Lotus Bakeries, La Marzocco, Lavazza, Solo Cup, Sodexo, Ozone Coffee Roasters, Nude Espresso, WaterAid, a host of top-quality artisans and many engaged coffee enthusiasts.
Claudia Galetta, trade marketing manager for Lavazza UK said: “The UK Coffee Week Steering Committee meeting provided a fantastic opportunity for the coffee industry to come together and discuss ways we can collaborate to support UK Coffee Week and raise funds for the charity Project Waterfall. We are now finalising ways Lavazza will be supporting the programme this year.”
The UK Coffee Week programme manager Hannah-Polly Williams added: “It was great to see so many high-profile organisations from the UK coffee sector uniting to support such an important initiative. Several excellent ideas came out of the meeting and we look forwarding to seeing these ideas come into fruition at the end of April.”
UK Coffee Week takes place from 22-28 April.
